Dear family and friends!
It has been a pretty wonderful week filled with miracles! We received transfers this week as well, so, Elder Riddle and I will stay here in Torrevieja!!! We are super excited to work another 6 weeks here! We have some great people preparing to be baptized this month!
Sofia is doing great! She has been pretty sick the last couple of days and so it's been a little hard but hopefully she can feel better and come to church the next week!
Jorge is a less active in our ward who just moved In about a week ago. His wife and daughter are not members so we plan on helping them get on that path. We passed by their house this week and taught them the restoration! It was an amazing lesson! The mother is having a hard time understanding baptism. We just need to help her understand the "why" part. The "why" part is so important! We always need to know the "why". I'm so glad that our Heavenly Father provides the "why" part for us! I challenge each one of you to ask yourself "why should we get baptized?" Or "why did I get baptized?" I also invite you to ask your Father in Heaven why. Through scripture study and prayer we can know the "why" to every question we have. Moroni 10:5 And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things.
Today I want to share what my mission means to me and the way I feel about my mission.
But first, I want you to imagine a scenario of a car accident, but in the perspective of the medic. You are flying down the road at 100 mile per hour, sirens bursting in your ears and adrenaline pumping through your body. All you can think of is how you are going to save someone's life. It brings you joy at the fact that you can save people but at the same time a sense of urgency and strictness at the importance of your role. You hope to do all in your power and would do all in your power to save even 1 person.
Now imagine the same scenario, but this time two young missionaries walking down the street, with thousands of people in jeopardy of not necessarily their life, but instead something endlessly more important, their salvation, their sole... We are not sent on missions to become better people. We are sent on missions to SAVE PEOPLE FOR ETERNITY, and if we do just that, the natural consequence we be becoming a better person.
The part that brings me the greatest hope, is that the greatest being to ever walk this planet is at the head of this work and all I have to be is a worthy instrument in His hands. Oh and how hard it is to be that instrument!
I feel an eternal obligation to be here on my mission. I don't fully understand my role as a missionary but I have the faith to know it is the most important work on this earth. I can't express the gratitude I have for my mission. It is the most rewarding, challenging, and greatest thing I have ever done and will ever do in my life.
I love my Father in Heaven! I am so glad that the fullness of the gospel of Jesus Christ is offered in The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints. I love you all and you are all in my prayers
Love
Elder Owens
